The Wizard is In

Magic. Quixotic. Rock-n-Roll.

Do those conjure images of straight from Disney, or are you more The Matrix?

Here's why I ask: I just returned from the Wizard Academy, in blazing hot-wet Austin Texas.

They grow the ribs big down there. But Roy Williams, Chief Wizard, blew our brains up to planetary proportions. Pictures. Words. Rock-n-Roll.

What was it all about?

About making an impact. About drawing pictures. About coloring your message, lighting a fire within your words, shining a light on your message.

What did I leave with? Not enough room here to share. But here's an impact point I need to share to those of us pretending to be bleeding-edge leaders in the PR space:

When was the last time your press release grabbed your reader by the throat and wouldn't let loose until your client's phone rang (or yours)?

There's another post I need to make in my research regarding the progressive nature of Press Release writing for the now and future. But you get the gist.

If your press release is factoid-rich and passion-short, it might be time to do a little role reversal. Explore how you can keep accurate, factual content... but make it form pictures in the minds of your readers. And better, inspire them to take action.

That's it for the moment. Your comments are welcome, please. If I'm smokin' something here, let me know.

Best,
Mark Alan Effinger

P.S. When you're ready to take your writing and creativity to the next level, check out Wizard Academy. You'll learn more in 3 days than you may have picked up the last decade.
